Again and again - and even more in recent years - motorcycle riders stop and relax at Hotel zum Pinzger. I myself am an enthusiastic bike rider, so for me it was a logical step to adapt to those visitors after taking over the management of our family-owned hotel.
It started of course with a moped, before my sixteenth birthday in gardens and fields, then with a good old Puch on public roads. After I did the my driver's license, the motorcycle was not used for a few years. Tourism Schools and Universities held me busy, a lot of work in the Hotel left not much time for bike-riding.
You cannot suppress your passion forever, so I got myself a KTM 640 LC4 back in 1998. A year later, I converted the KTM into a Super Moto. Two guys from our gang had to give up motorcycling because of accidents, which ultimately led me to the decision to sell the KTM. But again the farewell was not final.
2004 I re-entered with a Yamaha XT 660 R. Although beeing a perfect allround-motorcycle, the XT seemed not to be really satisfying, so I changed to a Suzuki GSR 600th after one year. This bike gave me a new taste: from then on the motto was "naked and big"! Since the GSR was naked, but not necessarily big, replacement had to be found. So a Triumph Speed Triple, a motorcycle that fascinated me already in his first version in the early nineties, took the Suzuki's place. When I eagerly was waiting for my driver's license, the Speed Triple was my object of desire. After three seasons of pleasure, I finally sold the Triumph for family-reasons. Next season I will start with a Suzuki Bandit 1250th. A compromise motorcycle - for my wife now also holds the license to bike, but does not want to have a motorcycle herself, it should be somewhat "softer".
Now there is another dream unfulfilled: a Norton Commando 850 Mk3, preferably built in 1976 (like me), as I also have a soft spot for old cycles.
My passion for moving on two wheels is not limited to the motorized version, I also like to mountain bike around the mountains and forests of our region. I am looking forward to show the most spectacular curves and routes to our guests and to be of assistance when they plan their trips around the alps.
