Stumm im Zillertal
Stumm lies on the sunny side of the Zillertal, right in the spot where all of those exciting outdoor activities get started.
They say the Zillertal is the world's most active valley.
The countryside surrounding Stumm includes the Merzengrund and Hämmerergrund, two of the most pristine high valleys in Tyrol - only inhabited by hill farmers during the summer months. Wonderful hiking paths and high trails invite visitors to hike and mountain bike. This region offers absolutely everything it takes for an enjoyable nature experience, including the opportunity to conquer countless Alpine peaks.
Stumm Castle bears impressive witness to days gone by, with the former protectorate and subsequent "Hofmark" of Stumm, together with the castle and its associated buildings, having passed through the hands of several different lords. From local records we can reasonably conclude that Stumm was settled even before the migrations involving the Rhaeto Romans.
Stumm has a picturesque village center, including a beautiful village square and fountain, the church, old farmhouses and inns, as well as a romantic castle. All of the most important shops, businesses etc., including our hotel, are located in the immediate vicinity.
